About Me

Hello, my name is Jared Joo. I am currently an undergraduate student at Virginia Tech planning on obtaining my Bachelor's in Computer Science by Spring of 2023.

I currently live in Williamsburg, Virginia. At the moment, I am currently seeking any opportunity to learn more about programming. I am eager to explore other fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Software Development. My goal is to create small projects thorughout the years during my undergrad in order to make myself a stronger, more rounded programmer.

Experiences

Efficiency and Power Calculator for Wind Turbines

The first language I learned was Java through Mooc.fi and my intro to programming class. By learning the basics of Java, I was able to create an efficiency calculator
which helped calculate data much more efficiently for my Wind Turbine project. This program calculates the efficiency and power of the wind turbine based on variables such as air density, velocity, swept area, resistance, and voltage input.

Summer 2020 Software Developer Internship

In the summer of 2020, I obtained a summer Internship at DataXstream LLC. where I interned as a Software Developer. Here, I gained experience using git and creating git hooks in VSCode to improve documentation before a commit. I was able to import ESLint within the pre-commit hook which autoformats uncessary whitespace and notifies the developer of incorrect syntax, canceling the commit.

Interests

Outside of school work, I enjoy being active such as swimming and weightlifting. I swam competitively for years prior to college. Today, I swim to clear my head and remain healthy.
